Rotten Potatoes Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2021

Rotten Potatoes Top 10 Anticipated Movies of 2021

10. No Time To Die

No Time To Die is the finale of the modern James Bond series starring Daniel Craig and Rami Malek. Although this film was supposed to be released and had multiple delays last year, the hype for this film has not died down whatsoever. With Rami Malek as a mysterious new villain and a great setting, and plenty of action guaranteed; this movie is practically set up for success.

9. Godzilla Vs. Kong

Just like No Time To Die, Godzilla Vs. Kong is the epic finale to the series where giant monsters attack populated cities. There honestly is not much to say about this movie, other than the fact that it is going to be insane watching two of the biggest monsters in cinematic history go toe to toe.

8. A Quiet Place II

Obviously the sequel to one of the best thrillers of 2018 had to be on the list. A Quiet Place II starring Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, and John Krasinkski (who is rumored to appear in flashbacks), sets to take place right where the first movie left off and continue to tell the story of the Abbott family. With the amount of praise the first movie received, this one is sure to perform well and will definitely continue to keep us at the edge of our seats the entire viewing.

7. The Suicide Squad

A few of you may be confused why Suicide Squad, a film that came out in 2016 is on my list. Well, James Gunn (director of Guardians of The Galaxy 1 and 2) after having issues with Disney decided to join Warner Bros. in soft rebooting the DCEU film Suicide Squad. With a few familiar faces returning such as Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. They will also be joined by a huge cast such as Taika Waititi, Pete Davidson, John Cena, Sean Gunn, and many more. Although the original film may have gotten a lot of hate, with James Gunn in control and a great cast I have high hopes for this movie.

6.  Halloween Kills

After a lot of rushed, disappointing, and box office cash grabs. Director David Green, decided to give it a go in 2018 and made Halloween. The direct sequel to the very first ever Michael Myers (I apologize if I got that wrong, the timeline is really confusing). With the amount of real success any Michael Myers film had seen in ages, it is no wonder David Green is going for round 2. Honestly, there is not much to say about this film other than the fact that I simply love horror slasher films. After watching Halloween (2018) in theaters I had hoped there would be a sequel to continue the gory and over the top horror kills we all love!

5. Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Venom: Let There be Carnage, starring Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, and Woody Harelson, is the sequel, to Venom (2018). Although there is almost nothing known about the true plot of this film, many fans have speculated that this film will most likely center around Eddie Brock aka Venom (Tom Hardy), fighting another Spiderman villain known as Cletus Kasady aka Carnage (Woody Harelson). Fans have come to this conclusion based on the end credit scene fromVenom (and the title. Duh). So even though little is still known about the overall plot, watching Venom take on another homicidal serial killer symbiote is gonna be awesome!

4. Eternals

Now, a lot of casual movie goers may not know much about this upcoming marvel film that was supposed to come out February 2020; but has since been pushed to November 2021. The Eternals are a race of immortal beings who secretly have lived among humans since ancient times. The overall plot will center around Dane Whitman (Kit Harrington from GOT), a normal archeologist who stumbles into the crossfire between the Eternals and the Devients. Along with Kit Harington, are many other huge actors set to star along side him. Such as Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, and Gemma Chan. With a star cast like this held by the reins of the beast that is Marvel Studios, this film is destined for greatness.

3. Uncharted

Based on the incredible game series by Naughty Dogs, Uncharted starring Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) is the next upcoming video game inspired movie. Now the original Uncharted game series starring Nathan Drake, is an adventure puzzle based game inspired by other adventure stories like Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider. Now once again, little is known about the plot, but based on set photos and set designs it is safe to assume the film will be following the same type of adventure mystery story as the games. Even though in recent years video game movies have been unsuccessful, I have high hopes for this film. With the film starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlburg, I have faith that this movie will be actioned pack with a great story.

2. Spider-Man 3 (Full title still unknown)

Once again starring Tom Holland as Spider-man, I had to put this movie on my list with the amount of hype and speculation surrounding this film. Although the main plot is still unknown, many news sources have confirmed actors from past Spider-man franchises returning for this latest installment. Such as Jamie Foxx who played Electro in the Andrew Garfield Spiderman series, JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson form the Toby Maguire Spider-Man series, and Alfred Molina who played Dr. Octavius in the Toby Maguire Spider-Man as well. With all this speculation fans are predicting all three of these Spider-Man universes will collide together and make a real life Spider-Verse film. If these rumors end up being true it could have the potential to be on the same level as Avengers: Endgame.

1. Dune

A remake of the original film Dune which premiered almost 40 years ago is set to be released on October 1, 2021. Starring Timotée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Mamoa, Josh Brolin, Oscar Issac, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, and so many more, I could not be more excited for this Sci-Fi movie. For those who may not know what Dune is, it is a story about Paul Atreides (Timotée Chalamet) a talented young man tasked with ensuring the survival of not only his family but his people as well. If that still has not peaked your interest, it is often referred to as the 'Star Wars Game of Thrones.' With George Lucas taking some of his inspiration for the original Star Wars series from the 1984 film. Denis Vilenueve is set to direct this film, and from what we have seen so far it already looks stunning from a visual standpoint and an overall cinematic one.

Thank you so much for reading my list, this actually took quite a bit of effort so if you enjoyed it please share with your friends and let me know what you think! - Joseph Gomez (Rotten Potatoes CEO)
