The Mandalorian S2 EP7 - "The Believer" SPOILER REVIEW
Image: LucasFilm/DisneyPlus
Rick Famuyiwa has delivered a great episode leading up to next weeks season finale of The Mandalorian by delivering great suspense, action, and most importantly.. story. Once again we get to see Migs Mayfield (Bill Burr), return to help Mando (Pedro Pascal) and crew find the location of Grogu. Who is being held captive currently by Moth Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito).
Although there has been much debate by fans arguing whether this episode is just filler or not, it actually does include important character development and symbolism. The title of the episode, "The Believer." At first may sound like a silly title, but once you dive in a bit deeper it becomes more clear what message director Famuyiwa, is trying to tell us. While Migs Mayfield and Mando are infiltrating the Empire's base, they must put on stormtrooper armor in order to sneak in. Mayfield then explains to Mando how he believes there are no good or bad sides in the galaxy. Just people who have been raised to follow a certain way of life. He argues that no matter how strong you think your beliefs are they can always change when you need something to benefit you. This idea is later enforced when Mando is forced to remove his helmet in order to scan his face. Even though Mando vowed to never remove his helmet around others.
Overall there are many examples director Famuyiwa has spread throughout the episode, that I could make a whole other blog post about them. A long with the incredible symbolism for your beliefs, there is also great action and funny dialogue between characters that just makes these episodes that much better. Honestly there is not much else to say other than this episode is just simply beautifully written and portrayed by the actors.
